2005 was safety Troy Polamalu’s third season in the NFL after being drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers with the 16th overall pick in the 2003 NFL Draft. He became a full-time starter in 2004, and it was in that third year he established himself as one of the best defenders in the league. Polamalu played all 16 regular-season games for the Steelers and delivered a stellar performance that helped propel the team to a Super Bowl XL title. Polamalu’s 2005 season earned him Pro Bowl and First-Team All-Pro honors, and he finished third in the voting for Defensive Player of the Year.
